Accessible Counselling is a not for profit, Community interest Company (CIC), providing low cost counselling to Children and Adolescents aged 5-26 in mid Essex area with an emphasis on those living in the Braintree District. Accessible Counselling provides a highly effective, innovative and affordable counselling service to the many children and adolescents in this community who are currently excluded from access to counselling services, either due to lack of personal finance or as a consequence of significant cut-backs in the provision of counselling services at schools and via the NHS. Accessible Counselling aims to help to close this gap, providing inexpensive, highly specialist counselling support to vulnerable children and young people. Our service is highly flexible and able to operate either at carefully selected private premises or in schools. We provide our service to Schools, target youth groups and those most disadvantaged such as young carers, looked after children, youth offenders, those classified as NEET not in employment/education or training and parents seeking help in the community. Targeting those most disadvantaged it is expected the service will benefit not only the individual but the family, School and community as a whole in the following ways; • Individuals increased attendance and attainment at School increasing employability and long term contribution to society • Cohesion and inclusion of target groups and individuals • Reduction in anti- social behaviour and youth offending • Preventing long term mental health issues • Strengthening families and relationships • Reduce waiting lists and support existing CAMHS services We believe that our service, which is effectively an "early intervention" strategy, will ultimately prove to be an extremely cost effective supplement to the provision of quality social care in the region. It will also contribute to reducing the burden on overstretched public resources by reducing the demand for expensive mental health facilities and long-term medication. We have an open door policy and encourage individuals/parents to contact us if their child requires therapy. Our Counsellors are highly trained and experienced with many hours of clinical experience as well as specialist qualifications, all our counsellors are members of a recognised professional body such as the BACP .
