Since our launch in 2007 we’ve helped about 450 vulnerable people. We train them and have an agreement in Morrisons for them to take 1,000 of our trainees over the next three years. Create now has stores in five cities and we have plans for more, including Birmingham and London. We work with agencies such as the Probation Service, charities and so on, who refer people to us. We have one of the country’s top chefs, so our menu is very high-end, we cater for anything from corporate events to 90th birthday parties. Create is a not-for-profit organisation, and all of the profits get ploughed back into the business. The message we would like to put out there is that our vision is to give vulnerable people a hand up, as opposed to a hand-out. What we’re saying to people is, you don’t have to get your hands dirty if you care about helping homeless people, just come and spend your money here.
