The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 (The Act) was put into place to safeguard the rights of those undertaking certain types of building works and the rights of all adjoining neighbours. The Act protects both the owner undertaking the works (The Building Owner) and the adjoining owners by ensuring that all work is lawful, while also protecting their neighbour’s rights in the event of any damage occurring. It achieves its protection empowering a Party Wall Surveyor to make an Award indicating the rights of parties affected by the works. We act for the Building Owners or Adjoining Owners or both parties where the Act allows, to help to reduce the Building Owners costs.
