Oakdene provides up to four beds for females aged 18-65 years. They may have learning disabilities, enduring mental illness or are working towards recovery from their difficulties. It is envisaged that residents will be looking for care and support in a comfortable suburban environment, one that is removed from a large clinical setting. Oakdene also provides respite, if there is a bed available, medium to permanent accommodation for adults with learning disabilities. Admission to Oakdene is a planned process subject to a detailed assessment of need carried out by Oakdene staff and mental health staff from their funding authority. A comprehensive assessment must also be completed. Prior visits to Oakdene by service users accompanied by their care co-ordinators and family members are welcomed, any queries service users may have, will be answered as soon and as fully as possible. A care plan will be compiled prior to admission this will usually be signed by the service user if in agreement, the care plan will be reviewed at four weeks or earlier if difficulties are identified.
