My name is Simon Stafford-Townsend, and I offer gestalt psychotherapy in Bristol. My approach to therapy is gentle and creative. My focus is on building a warm and healing therapeutic relationship based on trust, compassion, and the exploration of yourself in relation to your environment and those around you. It is by accepting ourselves for who we really are that we are then able to change organically in the ways that we need to. A large part of psychotherapy is coming to accept ourselves in this way. I view psychotherapy as the biggest adventure you can undertake; an exploration of yourself as you exist in the world. In gestalt psychotherapy, the starting point for this adventure is whatever is occurring in the here and now. It is by attending to and being guided by the most pressing need of the moment that we find our way through our therapeutic adventure. Together, we form a therapeutic alliance, and my part in that is to use my skills, training and personality to help you work through whatever has brought you into therapy.
